Rotary Encoders of the ERN 400 Series with Sturdy Hollow Shaft for Potentially Explosive Atmospheres (ATEX)

HEIDENHAIN complements its product range of special rotary encoders for applications in potentially explosive atmospheres of zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. In addition to the absolute and incremental rotary encoders with solid shaft, which have already been introduced to the market, encoders with a sturdy hollow shaft with a diameter of 12 mm will now be available for the incremental versions.

Other encoder versions with absolute EnDat22 position values and sturdy hollow shaft for use in potentially explosive atmospheres are currently being developed by HEIDENHAIN.

Technical Description

The hollow shaft is a blind hollow shaft with clamping ring, a diameter of 12 mm and a depth of 24 mm. It is produced in sturdy design and fitted with a stator coupling.

The sturdy hollow-shaft connection is designed for a maximum shaft speed of 5000 rpm. It is resistant to shock (2 ms) up to 1500 m/s2 and vibration up to 100 m/s2 in accordance with DIN. The rotary encoder provides protection to IP 66, and is designed for an ambient temperature range from –20 °C to +60 °C in accordance with DIN.

The ERN 400 product series with sturdy hollow shaft is available with a TTL, HTL or 1 Vpp interface and with line counts up to 5000.
