O-Rings are used in a variety of fields: they are either used as sealing elements or as energizing elements for hydraulic slipper seals and wipers. Thus, the O-Ring is basically used in every field of industry including aerospace, automotive or general engineering.
Your advantagesToday, the O-Ring is the most widely used seal because of its inexpensive production methods and its ease of use. Trelleborg offers a range of elastomeric materials for both standard and special applications which allow the O-Ring to seal practically all liquid and gaseous media.
The perfect O-Ring for each purposeTrelleborg's O-Rings are both cost-effective and perform highly in almost every environment. No matter if you need metric or inch, standard or custom-made O-Rings – any size of O-Ring is available – including giant O-Rings using Trelleborg's Fleximold™ process. Their rubber O-Rings are made of EPDM, FKM, NBR, HNBR, as well as their proprietary FFKM, Isolast®. Special products apart from rubber O-Rings such as O Rings in PTFE based Turcon® material and Wills Rings® metal O-Rings are also available.
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions offers a wide range of piston seals that provide the ultimate in leakage control. Their proprietary piston seal designs meet users’ requirements for low friction, compact form and simple installation.
A hydraulic piston seal or piston ring is usually manufactured in Trelleborg's Turcon® Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) based material or Zurcon® polyurethane . Specially engineered for fluid power applications, these compounds provide exceptional resistance to wear and outstanding extrusion properties. Compatible with virtually all media, they demonstrate unrivalled performance at extremes of temperature.
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions offers a wide range of hydraulic rod seals that provide the ultimate in protection from ingress of media. This includes O-Ring energized Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) seals, polyurethane (PU) U-Cups, and many more. Trelleborg's proprietary rod seal designs meet users’ requirements for low friction, compact form and simple installation
A hydraulic rod seal is usually manufactured in our Turcon® PTFE based material or Zurcon® polyurethane . Specially engineered for fluid power applications, these compounds provide exceptional resistance to wear and outstanding extrusion properties. Options are available that are compatible with virtually all media, they demonstrate unrivalled temperature performance.
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions offers a wide range of hydraulic scrapers and wipers in metal, elastomer, Turcon® Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) based material or Zurcon® polyurethane. These include the Turcon® Excluder®, which is the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions proprietary design of double-acting hydraulic scraper.
Specially engineered for hydraulic cylinder applications, Turcon® and Zurcon® materials demonstrate excellent low-friction properties providing exceptional resistance to wear.
Slydring® hydraulic wear rings and guide rings are available in three different materials types all of which are wear-resistant and demonstrate outstanding friction properties. Turcite® is for low to medium duty applications where there are limited radial forces, HiMod® is for medium to heavy duty applications and Orkot® materials are for heavy duty applications where there are high radial forces
Mechanical Face Seals or heavy duty seals are specifically engineered for rotating applications in extremely arduous environments where they withstand severe wear and prevent ingress of harsh and abrasive external media. A Mechanical Face Seal is also known as Heavy Duty Seal, Face Seal, Lifetime Seal, Floating Seal, Duo Cone Seal, Toric Seal , Mechanische Laufwerkdichtungen (German), There are two different types of Mechanical Face Seals / Heavy Duty Seals:
|
Mechanical Face Seal, Type DO |
Mechanical Face Seal, Type DF |

Trelleborg's range of pneumatic seals includes:
Pneumatic rod seals
Piston seals
Rod seal - scraper combinations
Static seals
Pneumatic scrapers
Wear rings and cushioning seals
Any Trelleborg pneumatic seal is manufactured in optimized materials including Zurcon® polyurethane and Turcon® Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) based material . Zurcon® provides exceptional resistance to wear, abrasion and tearing. It also demonstrates outstanding durability, high breaking elongation and excellent elasticity. Turcon® has the advantage of no stick-slip, excellent friction characteristics and high resistance to wear.
Trelleborg's portfolio of rotary seals includes the commonly known radial oil seal, rotary shaft seals, radial and axial lip seals, double-acting O-Ring energized Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) rotary seals for shaft and bore, rubber V-Rings, mechanical face seals / heavy duty seals and many more.
Extending component life
Our specialized Rotary and Shaft Seals perform exceptionally well in many different rotary situations. They demonstrate superior low-friction properties and provide excellent resistance to wear.
Rotary and Shaft Seals for many different applications
With special seals, like the Radial Oil Seal without a tension ring, the range of applications goes beyond fluid sealing. This special form of Rotary Shaft Seals can also serve as a scraper in situations with helical movement.
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions offers a wide range of specialized Rotary Shaft Seals, including their best-in-class proprietary radial lip seal, Turcon® Varilip® PDR and high quality radial oil seals .
The most common seal used in static sealing situations is the O-Ring , but in addition to these, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions offers a range of specialized static seals. The range includes our proprietary metal O-Rings, Wills Rings® , which are ideal for use in extreme temperatures and pressures. Other static seals offered include inflatable seals (Airseal), various rubber seals, valve seals, x-rings, square rings, rubber - metal bonded seals, polyurethane seals and spring energized Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) seals.
Resistant to virtually all media, static seals in Trelleborg's Turcon® PTFE based material are offered for contact with aggressive chemicals. In addition, there is the inflatable Airseal, suitable for sealing doors and openings especially in chemical or semiconductor applications.
We frequently work with customers’ engineering teams to develop the optimum design for their applications in Trelleborg's advanced elastomer, thermoplastic or composite sealing materials.
A large number of customers globally are supplied with custom-made rubber diaphragms. Technically challenging applications are solved with composite materials including the application of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and other barrier materials for gaskets to be used in chemically aggressive environments. Innovative plastic or metal-to-rubber bonding technology can result in simplified parts and reduced assembly.
Polymer bearings, such as our Orkot®, Turcite® and HiMod® products, offer significant advantages over traditional metal bearings. All are dimensionally stable, have excellent wear resistance and outstanding low-friction characteristics, giving them unrivalled performance in dry or with boundary lubrication.
Trelleborg's range of bearing materials includes Turcite® and HiMod® engineered thermoplastic bearings and Orkot® synthetic composite bearings.
Orkot® composite bearings have virtually no swell in seawater, making them ideal for marine and hydropower applications. Their superior elasticity over metal bearings means they can take edge-loading and counter misalignment even under extremely heavy loads.
